Vacuum pumps are critical equipment in the tobacco industry, ensuring process stability, improving product quality, and enabling automated production. Their main applications are as follows:
Cigarette Rolling and Filter Assembly
In modern high-speed cigarette rolling machines, the vacuum pump system is the core power source. It is primarily used to generate a stable negative pressure airflow. Its core functions include: adsorbing and accurately conveying single cigarette papers or formed papers; holding and transferring tobacco bundles and filter rods; and creating suction in punching equipment to fix the filter tips for ventilation hole punching. The stability of the vacuum directly determines the weight, density, draw resistance, and appearance quality of the cigarettes.
Pneumatic Conveying of Tobacco and Flakes
Vacuum pumps provide power for negative pressure pneumatic conveying systems. In the tobacco processing and packaging workshops, they enable the enclosed, clean, and efficient transfer of loose materials such as tobacco, stems, and reconstituted tobacco flakes between processes. This method avoids material breakage and aroma loss during mechanical conveying, while also preventing dust escape, effectively maintaining material characteristics and the workshop environment.
Vacuum Humidification and Flavoring
In the pre-treatment stage of the tobacco processing line, a vacuum humidification process is used. By evacuating the sealed cylinder, air inside the tobacco bales is quickly removed, followed by the injection of high-temperature steam. This allows the steam to quickly penetrate the tobacco leaves, achieving rapid and uniform heating and humidification, loosening compacted tobacco leaves, and reducing dryness and breakage. This process is also applied to vacuum flavoring to enhance the uniformity of liquid penetration.
Material Handling and Rejection in Packaging Machines
On hard and soft pack packaging machines, vacuum pump systems are used to adsorb single sheets of liner paper, trademark paper, aluminum foil, and other packaging materials, enabling precise and high-speed separation and supply. They are also used for automatic rejection of defective products after quality inspection, for example, using vacuum suction nozzles to quickly remove cigarette packs/cartons with missing cigarettes, missing filters, or other serious defects from the production line.
Process Dust Removal and Environmental Control
Vacuum pumps are an important component of centralized or mobile process dust removal systems. It is used to clean up scattered tobacco dust, tobacco shreds, and other dust from inside the equipment and the workshop floor, maintaining equipment cleanliness and process hygiene, preventing pest infestation and cross-contamination. This is crucial for ensuring product quality and safety and complying with production site management standards.
